The Jeep Wrangler has always been Jeep's off-road poster boy. Making it one of the most recognizable SUV ever made. The 2018 model picks up where the older model left off. A new platform frame and two new engines.
The interiors on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler gets a little more polish. While all creature comforts matching the Wranglers price tag are present, the central touch screen with Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, along with inbuilt satellite navigation
The India bound Wrangler will likely get the upcoming 3.0 litre diesel V6 although power figures are yet to be revealed. Internationally a turbo petrol two litre and a 3.6 litre V6 petrol are on offer as well.
In terms of design, Jeep has tried to stay as much as to the original as possible while giving it a fresh outlook. The new Jeep is actually based on a completely new platform that is not only lighter but is even better suited to off-road use than the outgoing Wrangler.
To protect critical vehicle components while on the trail – including the fuel tank, transfer case and automatic transmission oil pan – Wrangler employs four skid plates and bars. Rubicon models benefit from the use of heavy gauge tubular steel rock rails to curtail potential body damage inflicted while out on the trail. The use of lightweight, high-strength aluminium closures, including the doors, door hinges, hood, fender flares, windshield frame and magnesium swing gate, help reduce weight and boost fuel economy. Other ways the Jeep engineering team looked to reduce weight included using hollow track and stabilizer bars, aluminum engine mounts and steering gear, and a larger, lighter master cylinder.
