The updated Volkswagen Polo GT TDI has been spied testing recently, which is likely to get the same 1.5 litre diesel engine, which powers the new Vento, Ameo and Skoda Rapid. The new spy images by ThrustZone suggests that the car manufacturer has not made any changes other than the powertrain option.
The 1.5 litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 110 hp of maximum power and churns out a peak torque of 250 Nm between 1,500-3,000 rpm. The engine is paired to both a 7-speed DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox) and a 5-speed manual gearbox in present models. In order to keep the price competitive, the company might ditch the 7-speed DSG transmission on the 2017 Polo GT TDI, however, the DSG unit might be offered as an option.
The exterior and interiors of the upcoming car will largely remain same, but the German carmaker could make minor updates on the new Polo GT. The 2017 Volkswagen Polo GT TDI will get the same features like GT badging on the front grille, front fog lamps, dual beam halogen headlamps and 'Estrada' alloy wheels. The interiors will feature dual tone seat upholstery with height adjustment for the driver, aluminium pedal cluster and touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror Link. The car will also get safety features like rear parking sensors, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and dual front airbags as standard.
Volkswagen will launch the updated Polo GT TDI in India soon at an expected price of around Rs 9.30 lakh, ex-showroom. Stay tuned for more updates on the 2017 Volkswagen Polo GT TDI at Express Drives.
