Volkswagen is all set to launch its new SUV Tiguan in India soon and the company has listed the SUV on an official website. The dealerships have already started accepting bookings of the SUV at an amount of Rs 1 lakh. The Tiguan is expected to be priced at Rs 30 lakh- Rs 35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Tuscon and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq.
The Tiguan will be available in two variants, Comfortline & Highline and will be powered by a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine that will be mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The engine is expected to deliver 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. It is also likely that the new SUV gets a 4MOTION AWD (All wheel drive) variant.
At the exterior, the 2017 Tiguan gets features such as body chrome & grey inserts in bumpers, 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels depending on variants, roof rails, LED headlamps with LED DRL's, LED tail lamps and chrome moulding on side windows. In interiors, the SUV gets leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, 3-zone air conditioning with rear controls and an infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with 8-speakers as standard fitment.
In terms of safety, the Tiguan will get ABS (Antilock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) along with dual front, front side and curtain airbags and ISOFIX as standard. In addition, the SUV gets driving aids such as ECO driving system, Hill decent control( HDC), Auto hold, paddle shift and Electronic mechanical speed sensitive.
