Going with the trend of manufacturers positioning more automatics in the mid-variants of their respective brands, Tata Motors is planning to introduce AMT version in XT variants, as reported by Team-BHP. The company will launch an AMT version in its second last XT variant, that might be known as XTA trim. In addition, it is expected that the manufacturer might remove the automatic transmission from its XZ variant, which is available as an option.In March, Tata Motors launched the Tiago with an AMT in top end XZ version, known as XZA with 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine only.The launch date is not confirmed but we estimate the launch by the second or third week of September 2017.However, there are not much details it is expected that the company might introduce XT or XTA variant with Easy Shift AMT with an in-built creep feature. It comes with a four gear positions- Automatic, Neutral, Reverse and Manual. In addition, it might get the Sports mode like the manual version.
Tata Tiago is powered by a 1199 cc petrol engine and a 1047 cc diesel engine with a five-speed manual transmission. It comes in eight Revotron (petrol) and eight Revotorq (diesel) variants. The variants are Tiago Revotron XB, XE, XE(O), XM, XM (O), XT, XT (O), XZ and Revotorq XB, XE, XE(O), XM, XM (O), XT, XT (O), XZ.
Tata Tiago AMT XZA variant was launched at a price tag of Rs 5.39 lakh, ex- showroom, Delhi, while the XT variant will be introduced in a price range of Rs 4.90 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. When launched the Tiago AMT will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT, which is offered at a price of Rs 5 lakh.
