There is fair reason to believe that the 5-series is BMW's party piece. The three series is barely a saloon and the 7 series -- their flagship-- is exactly that, a flagship meant to be the pinnacle of their capabilities. And that could offer an explanation as to why BMW are so excited about the one made there are going to be made in India set to release on the 29th of June this year.
Today BMW let the press know, that they have begun production, for a 5-series at their Chennai plant and that means we can start marking days off on the calendar until we get our hands on it.
Dr Jochen Stallkamp, Managing Director, BMW Plant Chennai said, “BMW Plant Chennai takes pride in producing cars for the last ten years that have the same international quality standards as any BMW Group production and assembly facilities worldwide. Today, BMW Plant Chennai is proud to start the roll out the all-new 5 Series with highest standards of quality, distinguished workmanship and uncompromising engineering. We are confident that the all-new BMW 5 Series produced in Chennai will further increase our momentum in the Indian luxury car segment.”
The new 5-series will share cues from the 7-series that were released last year and will be longer and yet somehow lighter than the outgoing vehicle. And more importantly is expected (read: We are hoping it will) get a lot of in the form of tech kits like gesture control and adaptive dampers not to mention that sweet ‘James Bond”esque remote parking function. Function --of course -- varying over the three variants.
Prepare yourselves, BMW’s Chennai plant has begun production of the new 5-series launching on the 29th
The new 5-series will share a whole host of cues from the recently launched 5-series.
