Porsche India has launched a high-performance version of the Macan in India at Rs. 1.4 crore, ex-showroom. The 'Turbo' variant will be positioned above the standard versions in the country. Under the hood, the Porsche Macan Turbo is powered by a 3.6-litre, twin-turbo, V6 unit that generates a 438 hp of max power 600 Nm of peak torque.
This motor is mated to a 7-speed PDK, dual-clutch, automatic transmission that catapult the Macan Turbo to 100 km/h from standstill in a scant 4.4 seconds. This figure is more than the standard Macan and it also has a top speed of 272 km/h.
Other than power increase, the German automobile manufacturer has also equipped the Porsche Macan Turbo with performance packages. On the outside, this includes new 21-inch alloys at both the ends. The braking system has been improved which now gets 390 mm disc brakes with grooves to cool them down. Furthermore, the six-piston callipers get a red paint theme, while the air-suspension system remains the same as the standard products. The exterior also boasts of black side cladding, blackened-out grille and bumpers. The headlamps of the new SUV feature LED lamps along with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) Plus. These lights are speed sensitive and modulate their throw as per the requisite speed.
The interior consists of Alcantara and carbon fibre material along with leather trims to give a sporty touch to this behemoth. The car also features self-leveling and height adjustment seats, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and different driving modes based on the road conditions in front of the driver.
For its price, the Macan Turbo seems to be a complete bang for your buck. That said, considering the luxury car buyers opting for a diesel powered unit over a petrol, this SUV would sell in limited numbers.
