The production-ready Nissan Kicks finally made its global debut today in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The company believes that the Kicks will further strengthen Nissan's global leadership in the crossover segment.
Save for some practical changes, the India-bound Nissan Kicks' production model looks largely similar to its concept that had made its debut at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in 2014. Built for city driving, the Nissan Kicks will be first launched in Brazil and produced at Nissan's plans in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The comany also revealed that ramp-up to full production of the Nissan Kicks will start within FY16 at Nissan facility in Resende, Rio de Janerio.
The Nissan Kicks features the company's signature V-motion grille, bommerang-shaped head and tail lamps, floating roof with a wrap-around visor. The vehicle's cabin too looks futuristic and offers best-in-class passenger space and one of the largest boots in its category. The cabin features Nissan's new 'Gliding Wing' dashboard design that has centrally mounted 7-inch full colour display.
“With Kicks, we have developed a compact crossover in the best Nissan tradition, and thanks to the unmatched experience, we have in creating vehicles to meet the needs of car-buyers around the world,” said Keno Kato, corporate vice president, Product Planning, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “Kicks will offer best-in-class design, convenience and technological innovation. And, it will demonstrate Nissan’s commitment to Nissan Intelligent Mobility. Kicks is a car to confidently take on the city.”
Nissan Kicks will go on sale in Brazil in August 2016, followed by Latin America's left-hand drive markets later this year. Since it's a global product, the company plans to launch it in 80 markets including India. Though no official words on its India launch, we expect it to come sometime in 2017.
