The new Volkswagen Tiguan has been spied testing in India numerous time up till now, revealing the exterior design as well as interior. The company dealers too have already started accepting booking for the car at a minimum amount of Rs 1 lakh with the price expected to start from around Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom.
A batch of fresh images that have surfaced on the web have leaked the brochure of the upcoming SUV. As per the leaked brochure, the new Volkswagen Tiguan will be available only in two trims, Comfortline and Highline.
Design and styling
There are a few changes that will be seen between the two variants such as the base version Comfortline will get 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Highline will feature 18-inch wheels. The base variant also misses out on illuminated front scuff plates, chrome finish on the bumpers and a panoramic sunroof.
Interior and equipment
The top version will feature ambient lighting and keyless entry with a push-button start that will not be offered on the Comfortline trim. Some of the standard convenience features will include three-zone automatic air conditioning with rear controls, electrically adjustable front seats with driver memory function, automatic headlamp and cruise control among others.
Volkswagen Tiguan will be available with driver aids consisting of an ECO driving mode, Hill Descent Control (HDC), paddle shifters, speed sensitive power steering as well as the driver alert system.
The New Tiguan will get an infotainment system that will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and will have 8-speakers as a standard fitment.
In terms of safety, the Comfortline variant will not be offered with self-sealing tyres and reverse parking camera, but will get all other features offered on the higher version. Some of the safety features include ABS (Antilock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) along with dual front, front side and curtain airbags. The Company will also offer the SUV with TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), rain sensors and front and rear park distance control.
Engine and transmission
The complete specifications of the upcoming Tiguan have not yet been revealed but we expect the SUV to be powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine producing 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Expected launch date and competitors
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to be launched in India towards the end of May, 2017 or early June. The SUV will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V along with the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq.
