Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the all new Fortuner in India this month at a starting price of Rs 25.92 lakh( ex-showroom, Delhi). The company started taking bookings for the SUV on 7th November 2016, at its dealerships. After its launch, the all new Fortuner has gained a significant amount of popularity and there is already 6 weeks waiting period for the SUV. The most popular variant is the diesel automatic, which we were told by Galaxy Toyota, Moti Nagar, will be delivered by the end of December or early January, 2017. We were also told that colour choices aren't affecting delivery schedules as of now.
The new Toyota Fortuner is based on the 'Toyota New Generation Architecture' (TNGA) platform and is powered by two engine options, a 2.7 litre petrol and a 2.8 litre diesel unit. The petrol motor churns out 164hp of power and 245Nm of torque, while the diesel powertrain produces 174hp of power and 420 Nm of torque for the manual transmission and 450Nm of torque for the automatic transmission variants. The Fortuner is offered with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission for the petrol engine, while the diesel motor is mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission.
Inside the cabin, the SUV features dual zone climate control, push button start/stop, touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and speed sensing door locks. In terms of safety, the Fortuner get 3 airbags, ABS with EBD, clutch start system as standard, while higher trims feature Hill Assist, 4 additional airbags and Vehicle Stability Control.
