New SsangYong Rexton sketches revealed, to be launched under the Mahindra brand in India

The production version of new Rexton will be showcased at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show to be held in March this year.

Korean car manufacturer, SsangYong has revealed the official sketches of new Rexton and the production version of car will be showcased at the 2017 Seoul Motor Show to be held in March this year. The India bound Rexton, codenamed as Y400, will be offered as a flagship model under the Mahindra brand. The 2018 Rexton is based on the LIV-2 Concept that was showcased at the recently held Paris Motor show.

According to the images revealed, the new Rexton or Y400 will get a new bumper and grille design with silver inserts as well as LED headlamps with LED DRLs or Daytime Running Lamps. Inside the cabin, the new Rexton will get a 9.2-inch infotainment screen that will support Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto in addition to USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity as well as playback. The Y400 may also get rear displays as well as captain seats with massage function.

Under the hood, the Y400 will be powered by a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine and 2.0 litre petrol engine mated to 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic gearbox. Although, the performance figures haven't been confirmed, the diesel engine is expected to generate 184 hp of power and 420 Nm of torque, while petrol motor may produce 225 hp of power.
Mahindra Y400 will be introduced in India by the end of 2017 and is expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh. When launched, the 7 seater SUV will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
