Skoda India is all geared up to launch the upcoming SUV, the Kodiaq in India as cars appear to be already arriving at car stockyards. The car manufacturer has already listed the new Kodiaq on its official Indian website and as per some company's dealers, bookings for the car have started at Rs 51,000.
Recently, a fresh batch of images of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq have emerged, revealing the India-spec interior of the SUV for the first time. The Skoda Kodiaq, as per the images, is expected to get an 8-inch touchscreen, which is likely to be a Skoda Connect touchscreen infotainment system and will support navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The spied model of the Kodiaq is a four-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive version that will get a DSG automatic transmission. The images also reveal that the car manufacturer will equip the SUV with steering mounted controls, which is expected to come as standard equipment across the variants.
In addition to these features, Skoda will offer the Kodiaq with new and advanced features such as an electric tailgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, engine start/stop button and cruise control. Other convenient features will come in the form of an electric driver seat, multi-function steering mounted, while the safety equipment will consist of six airbags, ABS (Antilock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution).
The new Skoda Kodiaq will have a wheelbase of 2,791 mm and will measure 4,697 mm in length, 1,882 mm in width and 1,676 mm in height. It is expected that Skoda will offer the Kodiaq SUV with an option of both 5 and 7 seats.
Talking about the exterior, the Kodiaq will get projector headlamps with LED lights and split LED tail lamps along with the chrome finished front grille and window panels. The Skoda Kodiaq will also feature a panoramic sunroof, body-coloured roof rails and side body cladding.
The new Skoda Kodiaq is based on Volkswagen's MQB platform and will be available with a choice of a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variants will be powered by a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that will produce 177 hp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The diesel will receive a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that will develop power in two states, 147 hp and 340 Nm as well as 187 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque.
Expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq will rival against the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Ford Endeavour in the segment. it is expected that the company will manufacture the SUV at its plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
