Ford India is planning to launch the facelifted EcoSport soon and for the first time two test mules of compact SUV have been spied testing on Indian roads. According to the images, the India bound EcoSport gets a wider grille, redesigned headlamps with LED DRL's and new bumper with redesigned fog lamps at the front. From the side profile the SUV will remain similar to the current generation EcoSport.
Inside the cabin, the facelifted EcoSport will get a host of updates such as a 3 spoke steering wheel, new instrument console and redesigned centre console. It is expected the new EcoSport might get Sync 3 software with touch screen infotainment system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Under the hood, the facelifted EcoSport will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol, a 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel. While the 1.5 litre petrol motor is available with choice of automatic and manual transmissions, the 1.0 litre EcoBoost and 1.5 litre diesel might come only with a manual gearbox. It is expected that ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), dual front airbags will be standard across all variants of new EcoSport.
At the 2016 LA Motor show, Ford unveiled the facelifted version of EcoSport, which is built on Ford's B segment platform that also underpins the Fiesta. As for the prices, the facelifted EcoSport will be priced slightly more than the existing EcoSport and when launched it will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Honda WR-V and Mahindra TUV300.
