The new BMW 5-Series will launch on 29th June this year and the company dealers have started accepting booking for the luxury sedan at a token amount of Rs 2 lakh to 3 lakh. The new BMW 5-Series will take its design inspiration from the 7-Series that was revealed last year and will be lighter and bigger, which will liberate more cabin space than the older model.

The 2017 5-Series is likely to get two diesel and one petrol engines. The diesel variants will get a 2.0 litre four-cylinder that will produce 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. There is also a 3.0 litre six-cylinder turbocharged unit that will generate 265 hp of power and 620 Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission will come as standard. The petrol is expected to be a 2.0 litre unit with 252 hp of power.

Talking about the equipment list, the new 2017 BMW 5-Series is expected to be offered with new and advanced features. The 5-series is expected to get iDrive system with gesture control, adaptive dampers that can be adjusted to meet the driving needs and a remote parking function only on the higher trims. The standard features will include multiple zone climate control and electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats. The car manufacturer might also launch the M-Sport variants along with the standard versions.

Expected to be priced between Rs 52 and Rs 65 lakh, ex-showroom, the new BMW 5-Series will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and the Volvo S90.
