Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Indo-Japanese carmaker's first ever compact SUV, outsold the Ford EcoSport for the second consecutive month. The company sold a total of 7832 units in April 2016 as against the Ford EcoSport's 3789 units sold in the month. Launched on 10th March 2016, the Brezza had outsold the EcoSport in the very first month despite the fact that only 20 days were left in the month. Thanks to the Brezza, the company recorded over 260 per cent growth in utility vehicle segment in April 2016.
For people not in the know, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is the company's first car that has been developed completely in India. The vehicle was conceptualised, designed and developed in India. The Brezza has taken its design inspiration from two Suzuki concepts XA Alpha and iV-4. Some of the striking design elements are - radiator grille with vertical slats, projector headlights with LED daytime running lamps, wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, blackened A & B pillars, black plastic cladding around the body, high ground clearance, high shoulder line, roof rails and square wheel arches.
The Brezza is available only in diesel engine right now, but the company has plans to bring in its petrol model as well later this year. The petrol engined model could feature a 1.5-litre engine.
