Earlier we told brought to you exclusive spy images of the much awaited Ignis undergoing final testing in Delhi. With the testing close to completion, it is expected the car might be launched in February 2017. The Ignis was first unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and made its European debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The Ignis is expected to be powered by a 1.0 L Booster jet three-cylinder petrol engine. The vehicle will also be offered with a diesel engine but it still isn't clear if the Ignis diesel will be available at the time of launch or at a later stage. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and the company could also offer an AMT unit on the Booster jet or the regular engine.
The Ignis will measure 3,700mm in length, 1579mm in height and 1478mm in wide, making it larger than the Wagon R. In terms of design, the car gets projector lights with LED DRL's at front. The crossover car will get alloy wheels, steel wheels or multi-spoke design wheels, depending on the variant selected. Inside the cockpit, the car might get a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple car play, USB, and AUX. In terms of safety, the Ignis might get ABS and EBD as a standard feature for driver and passenger.
Maruti Suzuki had earlier planned to launch the car during the festive season but couldn't do so due to the production backlog of the Vitara Brezza and Baleno. With the production of Baleno to soon start at the company's new Gujarat plant, the company is expected to launch the car by February 2017. We expect the Ignis to be priced between Rs 4.8 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. The Booster jet equipped variants and the 4wd variants could be priced higher in case they're launched.
