Volvo’s V90 crossover is set to hit showrooms today. The V90, internationally, is positioned as a station wagon, however, the India-based model will be offered with higher ground clearance and be positioned as a crossover SUV. Which means that it possesses some mild off-road capabilities as well. The crossover will be based on the S90, which is currently on sale in the sub-continent, and shares a large bit of the S90’s design cues including the Thor’s Hammer LED Headlamps with Daytime Running Lights, vertically positioned LED tail-lamps. The bumpers, however, have been redesigned with skid plates. The V90 Cross will also have black plastic cladding as well as brushed aluminium roof rails. Additionally, the V90 Cross will also get more space inside and will boast a 590-litre boot that can be further expanded. The V90 will be powered by a 2.0-litre D5 diesel engine from the S90 that will produce about 235 bhp and will be matted to an 8-speed automatic transmission.Also included will be four active driving modes that include Eco, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. There will also be an all-wheel drive system for off-road driving. The V90 Cross will be brought in as a CBU, but thanks to the GST is expected to cost about 65 lakh ex-showroom.
1:35 PM: Randeep Hooda, an actor known for his rather different roles, is the first owner of the V90 Cross Country. In the D5 Inscription variant, the station wagon gets all the bells and whistles including a panoramic sunroof, 20 inch alloy wheels and Thor Hammer's LED headlamps
1:29 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country has been launched at Rs 60 lakh, ex-showroom. According to Volvo Auto India, the V90 Cross Country is a car for a person between 25 to 45 years of age, preferably male and wants to explore unchartered places but not in an SUV.
1:23 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country built on the company's SPA platform and completes Volvo's 90 series portfolio in India. Due to the extended roof, the boot space of the station wagon is 590 litres which can be further expanded to 1,526 litres.
1:15 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be powered by the existing 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 235 hp of power and 480 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The station wagon also comes with an all-wheel-drive system
1:05 PM: According to Tom Von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, the Cross Country badged cars balance out the gap between SUVs and sedans. The Volvo V90 Cross Country's ground clearance has been increased by 60 mm compared to the S90 sedan and it has a water wading capacity of 300 mm.
1:00 PM: Along with the introduction of the V90 Cross Country, Volvo Auto India has also rolled off the first locally assembled XC90 as a part of its Make-In-India campaign. So far, over 800 units of the Volvo XC90 SUV have been sold since its introduction in 2015
12: 55 PM: Volvo has grown by 32 percent in India and as always safety remains the top most priority for the carmaker according to Tom Von Bornsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India. The V90 Cross Country will sell alongside the XC90, S90 and other cars from the company's stable.
12: 50 PM: According to Volvo, the V90 Cross Country is a completely new segment of luxury station wagons. While bringing in the practicality of a station wagon, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is also offered with an all-wheel-drive system for better rough road capability
12: 42 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country has a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres and a claimed top speed of 230kmph. The suspension system offered as standard on the Volvo V90 Cross Country is a two-corner air suspension.
12: 37 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country gets a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system that supports Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX. The station wagon also gets Road Sign Information, Speech function and steering mounted audio as well as phone controls.
12:32 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be available in six exterior colour options, Crystal White Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Magic Blue Metallic, Grey Metallic, Onyx Black Metallic and Maple Brown Metallic.In addition, the Volvo V90 Cross Country will be offered with 20-inch 10 spoke Diamond cut alloy wheels shod with Pirelli tyres.
12: 27 PM: It is also offered with driver safety aids such as cruise control, Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Park Assist, Drive mode settings, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and Graphical Head-Up display.
12: 22 PM: Volvo V90 Cross Country gets active and passive safety features such as ISOFIX, EBA, Intelligent Driver Information System( IDIS) and multiple airbags
12: 17 PM: At the exterior, the Volvo V90 Cross Country gets Matte black bumpers, dual integrated tailpipes, Thor Hammer's LED headlamps with automatic bending, fog lamps with front spoiler and vertical LED tail lamps. The 20-inch alloy wheels on the station wagon are also standard.
12:12 PM: Inside the cabin, the V90 Cross Country gets Nappa leather seat upholstery, dual-tone dashboard, parking ticket holder, a 3-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters, a four-zone automatic climate control and 12-volt power outlets
12:07 PM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country is offered with standard features such as adaptive cruise control, Distance Alert, Parking Assist, multiple airbags, Hill Start Assist and Intelligent Driver Information System
12:00 PM: Powering the Volvo V90 Cross Country is the existing 2.0 litre D5 turbocharged diesel engine. However, for the station wagon, the engine has been retuned which now produces 235 hp of power and 480 Nm of torque.
11: 55 AM: The boot volume of the Volvo V90 Cross Country is 590 litre which can be expanded to 1,526 litres by folding the second row of seats. Folding the row can be done by using a switch in the boot for added convenience
11: 50 AM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be available only in one variant, D5 Inscription which will come with all the bells and whistles. These would include passive and active safety features like Park Assist Pilot and City Safety as well. Convenience features in the station wagon would include a four-zone climate control, electrically operated seats as well as lumbar support only for the front passengers.
11:45 AM: The air conditioning unit offered in the Volvo V90 Cross Country is a four zone system. The infotainment system comes with a Bower and Wilkins sound system. Safety features like Pilot Assist, Collision Mitigation Support, Lane Keeping Aid, Park Assist Cams will also be available on the V90 Cross Country. The navigation which is also standard in the infotainment system can be used in the HUD or Head-Up Display as well.
11:40 AM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country is offered with a 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment unit which also operates the air conditioning unit as well as other entertainment and information options. The prominent change between the S90 and the V90 Cross Country is the replacement wood trim on the dashboard with Aluminium panels

The system has been sourced from Haldex which can divide the power to 50:50 on the front and the rear wheels when needed. The different driving modes in the Volvo V90 Cross Country include Eco, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
11:25 AM: The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be offered in a dual-tone colour scheme for the leather upholstery in tan brown leather seats and an all-black dashboard. To add a more premium appeal there are subtle hints of silver across the cabin
11:20 AM: Inside the Volvo V90 Cross Country, the cabin design has been carried over from the Volvo S90 complete with soft-touch materials and a tablet sized touchscreen system on the centre console. This system operates the air conditioning controls as well as the infotainment options.
11:15 AM: In terms of dimensions, the Volvo V90 Cross Country is shorter than the S90 sedan which is 4,963 mm while that of the station wagon is 4,938 mm. However, the V90 Cross Country is talled at 1,542 mm height compared to the S90's 1,433 mm due to higher ground clearance on the V90 Cross Country is 210 mm. The V90 Cross Country and the S90 have the same wheelbase of 2,941 mm and width of 2,019 mm.
11:10 AM: The V90 will also get Pilot Assist that warns you when you drift out of your lane. Additionally, the Volvo also gets adaptive cruise control, distance alerts, park assist and seven airbags as standard.
11:05 AM: The V90 CC will also get the full suite of radar safety systems. Including Volvo’s City Safety that automatically brakes the vehicle when an obstacle is detected in its path.
11:00 AM: The Volvo will get an all-wheel drive system from Haldex, and four driving modes that include Eco, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road as well as an all-wheel-drive system for off-road.
10:55 AM: The V90 Cross Country will get 20-inch alloy wheels and a boot capacity that can be expanded from 590 litres to 1526 litres for extra cargo by folding a row of seats.
10:50 AM: The V90 Cross’s D5 engine will be mated to an 8-speed gearbox which can also be controlled via the steering mounted paddle shifters.
10:45 AM: Under the hood is the same 2-litre turbo diesel engine as the S90 in D5 spec. Which means that it produces 235bhp and 480 Nm of torque, that’s 45 hp and 80 Nm more than that on the S90. The V90 also benefits from Volvo’s Powerpulse technology which nullifies engine lag, paired with an all-wheel drive system courtesy Haldex.
10:40 AM: The wood trim on the dash, however, will be replaced by a tactile aluminium mesh.Additionally, there is a 9-Inch touchscreen entertainment system, Nappa leather seats with inbuilt massage functions.
10:35 AM: The V90 will share a large amount of its interior design with the top of the line XC90 SUV. Not missing out on a single spec including the full-size panoramic sunroof and thus a step above the S90.
