11:50am: Dimensionally speaking the DZire will sit wider than the outgoing model by 40mm, which will probably benefit the handling and stability. 11:46am: Maruti Suzuki has sold 2.7 million Swift Dzires to date globally. India account for 54% of the total units sold. Which means it has been impactful if not more in the segment. Although the Dzire has now dropped the Swift title, the 2017 Dzire based on the new platform is likely to be more impactful than its predecessors considering the striking new design and feature rich interiors.

11:43am: Maruti has not scrimped on features across variant, to ensure it hits the competition in all the right places. The high-end and elite variants get all of the above features and more. The ZXi and ZDi variants will additionally benefit from chrome inserts and alloy wheels, as well as an external temperature gauge on the MID (Multi-information display). The plus variants, get even more with precision cut alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps and DRLs.

11:36am: The only car in the compact sedan market to have features similar to the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the recently launched new Hyundai Xcent. The Xcent, however, might be the most affected by the new Dzire considering both cars appeal to a similar set of consumers and offer value-for-money and practicality as the key selling points.

11:33 am: In terms of progress, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is significantly lighter than its predecessor despite the addition of multiple new features. As a result of the lighter weight, the car is also more fuel-efficient than the older model. While we haven't driven the model yet, we expect the performance of the car also to be slightly better than the outgoing version.

11:27 am: The new Dzire was developed in a span of four to five years and is the only compact sedan in the market today to not be based on a regular hatchback's platform. Instead, the Dzire is based on the HEARTECT platform, which is a reworked version of the platform that underpins the Baleno hatchback.

11:25 am: VXi and VDi variants and above will benefit from a host of additional kit, including chrome chrome accents on the front grille, body coloured outside door handles as well as ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), turn indicators on ORVMs, tachometer, front door armrest, co-driver as well as driver side sunvisor. That’s a lot considering that the ‘V’-variants are mid-range as far as the Dzire is concerned.
