2017 Nissan Micra launched in India : specs, features and prices

Nissan India is set to introduce a new version of the Micra hatchback today with a number of new features. Here are the live updates from the venue on the specifications, prices, variants and features

The Japanese carmaker Nissan launched the 2017 version of their premium hatchback, the Micra, in India today. The new hatchback will essentially have a number of similarities in terms of the design language to the outgoing version, however, will be offered with some new features. The new features on Micra includes automatic headlamps as well as rain-sensing wipers.

1:02 PM: The new Micra has gone on sale from today across all the showrooms in India and will be exported to 100 countries across the globe.

12:55 PM: In addition, the petrol trim of the Micra Active model with manual transmission has also received minor cosmetic changes such as a new bumper, new steering wheel with Bluetooth and audio controls.

12:46 PM: The new Micra is available in 7 colours- Brick Red, Turquoise Blue, Blade Silver, Onyx Black, Nightshade, Storm White and Sunshine Orange

12:41 PM: The 2017 Micra is offered in two powertrains - 1.2 litre petrol engine mated to Xtronic CVT transmission and a 1.5 litre diesel engine that is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

12:16 PM: 2017 Micra launched at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

12:02 PM: Globally, the Nissan Micra was launched in 1982. In India, the car was launched in July 2010 and has sold over 80,000 units since then in the country. Micra was the first Made in India car by Nissan India.

11:3 2 AM:Changes in the 2017 Micra aren't much and may not transform the user experience. It would be safe to assume a nominal increase at best in sales of the model in India.

11: 28 AM:  The new Micra will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Tata Tiago.

11:16 AM: The new Micra is expected to come with a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB connectivity, along with seat height adjustment feature on the top variants.

11:09 AM: The new Micra was showcased earlier at the 2016 Paris Motor show and is likely to be launched in India with a few changes

10:56 AM: The Micra with a CVT transmission is known for delivering exceptional fuel economy. The 2017 Micra does not feature any mechanical change or any difference in weight and hence will deliver similar fuel efficiency.

10:50 AM: The new Micra is expected to be priced from about Rs 5 lakh and top out at a little under Rs 8 lakh.

10:45 AM: The interior is also expected to get a host of changes including a new touchscreen infotainment system which may support Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. The infotainment system will also support a reverse parking camera as well as parking sensors to manoeuvre the hatchback into tight parking spots

10:40 AM: Powering the 2017 Nissan Micra will be a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine will generate 75 hp of power and 104 Nm of torque while the diesel would develop 62 hp of power and 160 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will also have the option of a CVT automatic gearbox, whereas the diesel motor will be paired only to a 5-speed manual transmission.

10:35 AM: These features would include Daytime Running Lamps, revised headlamp as well as taillamp clusters and refreshed bumpers. The feature list also includes automatic headlamps as well as rain-sensing wipers.

10:26 AM: An all new model of the Nissan Micra was showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show which will not be launched in India for now. The 2017 version will essentially be a facelift of the existing model with new features

    people in india r waiting for the new micra.. not the facelifted one... no one will buy this facelifted one... nissan is only making customers move away from them...
