Korean auto-maker Kia Motors will soon have its Indian arm up and running. The company has already announced an investment of $1.1 billion in India and has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Andra Pradesh to build a new manufacturing facility in Anantapur district of the state. Wasting no time, the company is now on a roll to meet different prospective dealers in the country. In a statement, the company said over the next two months the executives of Kia will be addressing the possible dealer partners by giving them a brief insight on Kia Motors plan in India, its business strategy to setup dealerships. Indian arm of Kia Motors is expected to commence local retail sales during the second half of 2019 and its also likely that the company will be showcasing its presence at the Auto Expo scheduled in February 2019. Kia's upcoming manufacturing facility spreads across 23 million square feet and will incorporate facilities for stamping, welding, painting and assembly. The manufacturing plant will have an initial annual capacity of 300,000 cars. It will also be home to numerous supplier companies’ facilities.

The construction of the new plant is expected to begin later this year. Kia will first bring in a compact sedan and a compact SUV built and designed specifically for Indian market. Kia already has a good global customer base and with its big bet on Indian market Kia Motors is certainly on its way to be one of the leading global car manufacturer.
