Jeep India revealed the Compass in April 2017 and the company is planning to launch it in the third quarter of this year. The manufacturer is presently testing the SUV. Another set of spy images of the car while on test taken by Shiftinggears have surfaced. The car in the pictures, which is a test mule, is perhaps the base version. According to the images, the SUV gets projector headlamps with DRLs, fog lamps, alloy wheels, roof rails, body cladding, chrome accents on the window and turn indicators on the ORVMs. Inside the cabin, the Compass gets a touch screen infotainment system, a three-spoke steering wheel, dual tone interiors and horizontal AC vents.
The upcoming Jeep Compass will be powered by a 1.4 litre petrol engine and a 2.0 litre Multijet diesel engine. The petrol engine is expected to generate 140 hp of power, while the diesel engine is speculated to produce 170 hp of power. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission for the petrol variant, while a 9-speed automatic gearbox will be employed for the diesel variant. The SUV will measure 4,410 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and will have a wheelbase of 2,630 mm. The SUV will get all wheel drive with four modes - Auto, Snow, Stand and Mud.
Jeep India will start the production of Compass from June 2017 and will be manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility. The prices of Jeep Compass are expected to be around Rs 20-25 lakh and when launched it will compete with the likes of Tata Hexa and Mahindra XUV500.
