Jeep Compass interior spied, launch by third quarter of 2017

Jeep India will start the production of the Compass in June 2017 and will be offered in two variants, Longitude and Limited

Jeep India revealed Compass on 12th April, 2017 and now there are new spy shots of the interior and the SUV is slated for launch by the third quarter this year. According to images, the two test mules spotted seem to be the Latitude and Limited variants which would be offered with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the images also reveal that the Compass will get rear wiper and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The Jeep Compass will be powered by a 1.4 litre petrol engine and 2.0 litre Multijet diesel engine. The petrol engine is expected to generate 140 hp power, while the diesel engine is speculated to produce 170 hp of power. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission for petrol motor, while a 9-speed automatic gearbox will be employed for the diesel variant. In terms of dimensions, the premium SUV will measure 4,410 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and will have a wheelbase of 2,630 mm.

On the outside, the Jeep Compass gets LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), LED tail lamps and a dual tone exterior colour options with a may be offered on the top-end variant. In terms of safety, the Jeep Compass will be offered with over 50 safety features which include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), dual front airbags. Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control as well. The SUV will also get an all-wheel-drive system which has four modes Auto, Snow, Stand and Mud.

Jeep India will start the production of the Compass in June 2017 and will be offered in four variants Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. The Jeep Compass will be locally manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility and will be exported to other RHD (Right Hand Drive) markets like Australia, UK and Japan along side being sold in India. Prices of the Jeep Compass are expected to be in the tune of Rs 20 lakh and if introduced at this price, it will compete with the likes of the Tata Hexa and the Mahindra XUV5OO.
