Hyundai Elite i20 facelift spotted testing again, India launch in 2018

The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is expected to be powered by the same 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 89 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

We reported earlier that Hyundai has been testing a facelift version of the Elite i20 slated for launch in India in 2018. Now, the car has been seen testing again in Tamil Nadu by Motorbeam under heavy camouflage. The new images do not reveal many details as the test mule was is seen fully camouflaged at the front and rear, however, the car will get a new set of alloy wheels. It is expected that Elite i20 facelift will get the company's signature hexagonal front grille with chrome slats, similar to the recently launched Xcent. The manufacturer has also updated the headlamp design, front bumper and fog lamps.


At the back, the updated Hyundai Elite i20 will get a redesigned bumper and number plate will be placed higher than the existing model. It is expected that the facelifted Elite i20 will get a host of updates on the inside, such as a touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In terms of safety, ABS and dual airbags will be standard across all the variants.


The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is expected to be powered by the same 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 89 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol version will get a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre unit that is paired to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The company might also offer a new 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, which is expected to produce 120 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque.
