Joining the likes of Hyundai, Toyota, Jaguar, Tata Motors and others Volkswagen India has increased the prices of its some products due to increase in GST cess.The company has increased the prices of the Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Tiguan but other models including Ameo and Polo see no price revision. Volkswagen Vento prices have been increased upto Rs 4,000 to Rs 9,000, while the Tiguan SUV gets a price hike of Rs 93,000 on Comfortline. The Highline variant of Tiguan gets a massive price hike of Rs 1.04 lakh. Under the new GST cess, mid-segment cars and luxury car saw an additional cess of 5 percent and SUVs saw an increase in cess by 7 percent. Rates on hybrid and small cars remain unchanged.
Volkswagen India has launched the Tiguan SUV earlier this year and is now gearing up to launch the Passat in India next month. The eight generation Passat will be powered by a 2.0 litre TDI engine that produces 177 hp of power mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. Volkswagen Passat will have an 80mm longer wheelbase, 12mm wider and 2mm shorter than its than its predecessor.
In August 2017 sales, Volkswagen India has reported a decline in its domestic sales by 5.6 percent and the company sold 4,159 units as compared to previous year sales. Post the addition of cess Volkswagen Tiguan will cost Rs 28.42 lakh for Comfort line and Rs 31.91 lakh for Highline (ex-Delhi).
