Girish Wagh has been appointed as the new head of the commercial vehicles segment of the Indian manufacturer. Ravindra Pisharody, the earlier head of the commercial vehicles unit of Tata Motors, has stepped down citing personal reasons.
Wagh, 46 years old, is a mechanical engineer from the Maharashtra Institute of Technology, later on, to pursue a post-graduate programme in manufacturing from SP Institute of Management and Research before joining Tata Motors. He played a critical role in the development of mass market products such as the Tata Indica, Nano and later on the Tata Ace LCV or the Light Commercial Vehicle.
Although Ravindra Pisharody has resigned, however, he will work with Girish Wagh for a proper transition of the responsibilities.
This transition follows Pisharody’s resignation on June 5th, 2015 citing personal reasons for his exit on the same day that Tata commercial vehicles had appointed their Executive Director Satish Borwankar as the new Chief Operations Officer, which is an entirely new position under the current regime.
Additionally, Borwankar gets his tenure as executive director in the company extended by two years, and are yet to announce who will replace Wagh’s previously head 'Head of Product Line MHCV' soon. vehicle unit of the Indian carmaker, Tata Motors
