Express Drives, one of the leading automotive websites in the country, will be joining hands with Auto Tech Review for the 2017 Indian Automotive Technology Awards (IATIA). The IATIA, is the only awards of its kind in the Indian subcontinent, moving away from the traditional awards, that focus on a product’s value in summation. The Auto Tech Review awards bring back focus to automotive engineering, industry and the community as a whole. The awards will focus on automotive engineering and technology, and also focus on the innovative spirit of automotive manufacturers. Express Drives will be joining in as jury members, using their cumulative decades of experience in automotive testing to evaluate entrants for the specified technology and their application in the real world.

Technology often takes a backseat when it comes to the complete automotive product, but we often forget that it is the technology is the foundation that drives all automotive breakthroughs. This is why the IATIA 2017 will focus on the areas of powertrain, transmissions, safety, connectivity, environment and convenience. There will also be an award for the young student innovator for 2017, which will focus on nurturing innovative technologies by students.

One of the more interesting categories in the running for the IATA awards will be automotive tech start-up of the year (ATSoY). True to the spirit of the IATIA, the ATSoY has been conceptualised with a specific goal in mind: to recognise, honour and reward budding technology entrepreneurs in the Indian automotive sector, who've not just made their mark by bringing to the market unique solutions aimed at the sector, but have also successfully scaled up their ventures. The ATSoY is looking for the next big technology idea that promises to disrupt the automotive landscape in India and global markets.
The IATIA is supported by an independent jury with veterans such as Mr Shrikant R Marathe (Former Director, ARAI); Dr RK Malhotra (President, SAEINDIA) and Mr Sajid Mubashir (Scientist ‘G’, Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India). The ATSoY, on the other hand, has industry veterans such as Mr CV Raman, (Sr Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India Limited), Mr Chetan Maini (Vice Chairman, Sun Mobility), Mr Dilip Chenoy, Former MD & CEO, NSDC as jury members.
