Right from established carmakers like Maruti Suzuki to not so popular players like Isuzu are preparing for their upcoming launches. These include a compact sedan, SUVs, an MPV and a hatchback. If you are planning to buy a car in any of the aforementioned segments, you may as well wait for the products to launch which are slated for introduction this month itself. Interested? Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been one the best sellers from the company's stable. Since the launch of its first generation until now, the company has sold over 13.81 lakh units of the compact sedan in the passenger as well as the commercial vehicle market. Now, the company will sell the new Dzire only for the passenger vehicle market positioning it as a premium product. The current generation Dzire will be rebadged as the Dzire Tour and will be available only for fleet operators.
The engines of the new Dzire will remain the same as that of the Dzire Tour, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. This time around, however, both engines will be offered with an AMT or an Automated Manual Transmission. The existing version is available on in a 4-speed automatic gearbox that too only with the petrol engine. Safety package available with the new Dzire will include dual front airbags as a standard fitment and ABS available as an option on all variants.
Bookings of the new Maruti Dzire have already commenced and the compact sedan will be launched on 16th May 2017.
After the marginal success of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross pickup truck, the Japanese carmaker is gearing up for the launch of the Isuzu MU-X. The new SUV will replace the already discontinued MU-7 SUV and may be offered with a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine will generate 175 hp of power and 380 Nm of torque. However, details of the transmission options are sketchy, however, the top end variant of the Isuzu MU-X will be offered with an automatic transmission as well as an all-wheel-drive system while the lower variants may get a manual transmission option as well.
The company is expected to price the Isuzu MU-X in the Rs 25 lakh range which will put it in competition with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, automatic climate control, dual front airbags and other segment matching equipment will also be present in the top-end trim.
Although GM India has shut down its Halol production facility, the company is expected to introduce a new version of the Chevrolet Beat. The new hatchback from the American carmaker will be similar to the Spark sold globally that was unveiled at the 2015 New York Motor Show. The hatchback will be developed at the company's Talegoan plant near Pune and will have a completely new design similar to the concept car. The new Beat will have new bumpers, a new headlamp, as well as a tail lamp cluster and larger alloy wheels, compared to the outgoing version.
Powering the new Chevrolet Beat will be a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.0-litre diesel engine options. While the petrol engine is expected to be offered with an automatic transmission as well, the diesel motor will be available only with a 5-speed manual transmission. The company will also introduce the Chevrolet Beat with the company's MyLink infotainment unit that supports Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In terms of safety, the new hatchback will get ABS and dual front airbags, however, they may not be standard. The expected launch date of the new Chevrolet Beat is 25th May 2017, although some reports suggest it will happen somewhere in June.
Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sports Edition
To celebrate the completion of one year of the Innova Crysta, Toyota Kirloskar Motors will introduce the Innova Crysta Touring Sports Edition. Slated for launch on 4th May 2017, the Innova Touring Sport will have 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome inserts on the fog lamps and black bumper lips with chrome inserts. The MPV will be available in two colour options, Wine Red and Super White.
The interiors feature a dual-zone automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system and other bits available on the top-end ZX trim. This version of the Toyota Innova Crysta will be available with a 2.8-litre diesel engine option that generates 171 hp of power and 360 Nm of torque. This engine will be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The top-end Innova Crysta is priced at Rs 20.77 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi and the Touring Sports Edition of the seven-seater MPV will be available at a slightly higher premium.
As we reported earlier, Volkswagen is set to launch the Tiguan in May itself as confirmed by a dealership in Delhi. Bookings of the SUV have already commenced and authorised outlets are taking a booking at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. The dealership also confirmed that the vehicle will be available for display and test drives by 12th May 2017. Although the date of launch is not confirmed, prices of the SUV are expected to be announced by the mid of this month. The expected price range of the VW Tiguan will be from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
For the time being, the Tiguan will get only one engine option, a 2.0-litre diesel unit that will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The engine will generate 190 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque and the SUV will be available in the Comfortline and Highline trims.
The second-generation Tiguan will be offered with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and will be built on the company's MQB platform. The interior of the Volkswagen Tiguan will feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrorlink connectivity, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.
