Bentley has introduced the Bentayga with a new diesel engine, which according to the company is the world's fastest and more powerful SUV. Under the hood, it gets a 4.0 L, 32 valves, V8 motor that develops around 433 hp of power and churns out 900 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Bentayga can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h. The all-new triple-charged diesel engine of the Bentayga is the same as that found in the Audi SQ7, which has been tweaked to reduce lag and deliver more torque at as low as 1,000rpm. The engine also emits low CO2 emissions of 210 g/km. Three technologies have been used to make a more refined and quite diesel – triple-charging system, 48V supplementary electrical system and exhaust cleaning.
The Bentley Bentayga will retain the same styling and features as that of the petrol version, which is powered by a 5950cc, W12 engine. The V8 diesel motor is lighter in weight by up to 3kg. The exterior will boast of V8 badging on the front door, while the newly-developed twin-quad exhausts have been designed to reduce noise. The black matrix grille remains the same and is surrounded by a chrome strip. The SUV stands at 20-inch alloy wheels, which are offered as standard.
The Bentley Bentayga is handcrafted at Mulliner and features a cockpit and is finished with wooden and metal trims. The carmaker has also equipped the SUV with Mulliner Hamper Set that consists of a refrigerator, bespoke fine Linley china cutlery, crockery, crystal glass and storage area for dry goods. In order to create more space, the sections of the hamper can be removed. Other highlights of the interiors include a bespoke mechanical Mulliner Tourbillon by Breitling. The customers can also choose between different sound systems - Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio.
The safety features on the Bentayga diesel include Bentley Dynamic Ride (the world's first electric active roll control technology), Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TCS), Hill Descent Control and four different driving modes - High 2, High 1, Normal and Low.
Deliveries of the new Bentley Bentayga diesel will commence early next year in European markets, including Russia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan and later in different parts of the world.
