Volkswagen has recently teased the 2019 edition of its Jetta sedan. The new Jetta will make its global debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit early next year. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is built on the brand's MQB platform and offers a host of new features. The teaser image does not reveal much about the car and only the silhouette of the seventh generation model is visible. One of the most prominent changes on the exterior will be the new and bolder grille along with the fresh headlamp units. At the front as well as rear, the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has been integrated with LEDs that should offer good illumination at nights. The company's MQB platform is believed to a high improvement over the PQ35 platform on which the existing model is based. The new platform is present on cars like Polo and Audi Q7. Also, due to this, the new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will be lighter and agiler than its predecessor.
There is no exact information available at the moment as to what engines will drive the new Jetta. We believe that the car will draw its power from a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Besides, there could be a couple of turbo petrol engine options as well having 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre displacement. Having said that, the new Jetta is expected to share its powertrain with Volkswagen Tiguan. The car was spotted undergoing test runs completely undisguised earlier this year. The new model is expected to come with a better legroom than the present-day one.
As far as India launch goes, nothing concrete can be said right now if Volkswagen considers launching this car here or not. Even this is not sure at the moment whether the new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will make its way to right-hand drive markets. More details to be revealed at the time of its global debut.
