The Indian arm of the French automaker, Renault is planning to showcase its electric concept DeZir at the 2018 Auto Expo reports ETAuto. The two-seater coupe concept was first showcased at 2010 Paris Motor Show and going with the electric flow it might bring in the concept to allure the Indian audience. Renault Dezir concept is powered by a electric motor and 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack at the rear. The electric motor produces 148hp of power and 226Nm of torque. The power is given to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. To optimize, the range and performance, Renault's design teams has kept the electric car weight to minimum and has made the body with Kevlar. The company also claims that the DeZir aerodynamics have been redefined due to its underbody fairing and a rear diffuser. This has resulted to a drag coefficient to .25 that helps the car to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in five seconds.

Renault's DeZir's is equipped with an energy efficiency package which includes recovery of deceleration energy, this technology is based on the same principles of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). This energy can be chosen by the driver as a temporary booster by using a button located on the steering wheel. The electric two-seater coupe has its battery cooling done by the air channels from the front to the back of the car but also is done by the flow of air that enters through the lateral scoops concealed behind the aluminium panels on the either side of the body. Globally, Renault has not confirmed the DeZir concept to make it to production. However, the R&D done on this electric sportscar will help the company to develop other mass-market electric cars and SUVs.
