2017 Force Gurkha launched at a starting price of Rs 8.44 lakh

The 2017 Force Gurkha is powered by the BSIV 2.6 litre diesel engine and is available in two version in both four wheel drive and two wheel drive.

Force Motors has launched the new 2017 Gurkha with the BSIV engine at Rs 8.44 lakh (ex-Showroom). The SUV Force Gurkha is available in two version, Xplorer and Xpedition and is based on the high strength C-in-C chassis with new multi link coil spring suspension on four wheels. This is a new feature first in the Indian off-roader segment. The company claims that the new chassis will provide better handling and ride comfort on-road as well as off-road. The new chassis has been made and welded using robotic techniques is coated with the Cathodic Electro-Deposition (CED) primer to prevent corrosion. The Force Gurkha Xplorer is the 4WD version and is a 5-seater SUV, which is available with both soft top and hard top. The Gurkha Xpedition, on the other hand, is a rear wheel drive version and is available in hard top and 8 seat configuration.

Both the variants of the Gurkha are powered by the 2.6 litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 85 hp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque between 1400 to 2400 rpm. The engine is now compliant with BS-IV emission norms. The unit is mated to a 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox. The company has also equipped the SUV with independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers and anti-roll bar at the front and multi-link set-up with gas-charged hydraulic shocks as well as an anti-roll bar at the rear. The new Force Gurkha also gets disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

The Force Gurkha takes its design inspiration from the Mercedes-Benz G - Wagon . The company has revised the exterior of the SUV. It now gets a bold and new front fascia along with new front and rear steel bumpers. The air intakes snorkel now gets a chrome finish, side body cladding, new graphics and front and rear fog lamps. The Gurkha also feature large ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) than before, slip resistant footboard, and new tyres as standard.

The new Force Gurkha Explorer and the Gurkha Expedition are available on sale in four different colour options, namely; Supreme White, Matt Black, Copper Red and Moonbeam Silver. The Gurkha Xplorer 3 Door version is priced at Rs 9.39 lakh, the Xplorer 5 Door carries a price tag of Rs 11.48 lakh and the Gurkha Xpedition is priced at Rs 8.44 lakh.
