TVS Motors showcased the concept version of the Akula 310 at the 2016 Auto Expo and the motorcycle is now nearing its launch date around mid-2017. Up till now, various spied images of the production version of the motorcycle have emerged on the internet. As more details continue to emerge, TVS Group has filed a patent with the Controller General of Patents Design and Trade Marks of India. The patent has been filed under the name of Sundaram-Clayton Limited on 26th April 2017, which states that production version of TVS Akula 310 will be named as TVS Apache RR310S.
The Apache RR 310S has been jointly developed by TVS and BMW Motorrad and it will share its engine with the upcoming BMW G310R. The Apache 310R will be powered by a 313 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that will generate around 32 hp of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox and is expected to give a fuel-efficiency of 36 kmpl.
The fully faired motorcycle Apache RR310S will get a twin headlamp cluster with DRL's and LED tail lamps. In terms of safety, the motorcycle is expected to get disc brakes at both ends with ABS as standard. The motorcycle is expected to get upside down forks at front and a monoshock at the rear.
TVS Motors will manufacture the Apache RR310S at its Hosur facility and it is expected to be priced between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. When launched the Apache RR310S will compete with likes of KTM RC 250 in terms of power but with the KTM RC390 in terms of price.
