Piaggio is planning launch two new scooters in India, the 70th Anniversary Edition and the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani in November 2016. The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani has been inspired by Giorgio Armani, an Italian fashion brand. The company will launch the scooters to celebrate the 130th birthday of Piaggio Group as well as the 40th anniversary of Giorgio Armani.Piaggio to launch Vespa 946 Emporio Armani and 70th Anniversary Edition in November 2016.
Piaggio had earlier showcased the Armani edition at the 2016 Auto Expo. Both the scooters will be offered in two body colours, Azzurro 70 (a combination of silver and blue paint) and Grigio 70 (a combination of silver and grey paint). Apart from this, the new models will also feature grey wheels, dark brown leather wrapped seats, chrome finished rack at the rear for holding a bag and will have the Emporio Armani logo on the rear, sides, and above the headlamp.
The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani is based on the standard Vespa 946 scooter. It is powered by the same 125cc, 4-stroke single cylinder petrol engine that churns out 11.3 hp of maximum power. The Emporio Armani edition will get Michelin tyres, 220mm double disc brakes, ABS and ASR (Anti-Slip Regulator) traction control.
The special edition models will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) and are likely to be priced higher than the standard models in the company's portfolio.
