Yamaha India is going to launch the new Fazer 250 today in Mumbai, making this the second launch by the company this year. The Fazer 250 is essentially a fully-faired version of the FZ 25, which was launched earlier this year. Since both motorcycles are internally the same, there are no mechanical changes in the Fazer 250. It is powered by a 249 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine developing about 20 hp and 20 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a five-speed transmission, which is the same as found in the FZ 25. However, the Fazer 250 might be a tad slow in the acceleration department compared to the FZ 25 as the full-fairing will add considerable weight. What makes the Fazer 250 stand out is the unique design of the fairing, which has many sharp creases and sleek turn signals. The FZ 25 is presently priced at Rs 1.19 lakh, ex-showroom and we expect the Fazer 250 to be priced slightly higher at around Rs 1.30 lakh.
1:01 PM: The Fazer 25 is launched and it is priced at Rs 1,28,335, ex-Mumbai and Rs 1,29,335, ex-Delhi
12:58 PM: Yamaha claims the rear suspension is a light weight linkless mono-cross suspension. it is also tuned good balance between the damping and spring rate
12: 54 PM: The new motorcycle will officially be known as the Fazer 25, which is in line with its naked sibling
12:51 PM: The Fazer 250 is the second offering by Yamaha this year in India. The new motorcycle is based on its naked sibling FZ25 and is its fully faired version. The Fazer 250 is powered by a 250cc engine that produces the same power and torque as FZ25.
12:24 PM: As far as pricing is concerned, Yamaha FZ25 is available at a price of Rs 1.19 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. With a full-fairing, the Fazer 250 will be priced slightly higher than its naked sibling. When launched, the Fazer 250 will compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and Honda CBR 250R
12:11 PM: The fully faired Fazer 250 will share its platform, engine and suspension with its naked sibling FZ25. The fairing on the motorcycle will increase the weight by 4 to 5 kgs and that might make a marginal difference to the fuel efficiency and acceleration. It is expected that it might deliver fuel efficiency around 30-35 kmpl.
12:02 PM: The Fazer 250 is based on the same diamond frame chassis that is also used in its naked sibling FZ25. It gets an LCD instrument console with digital speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and tachometer.
11:50 AM: Suspension system on the motorcycle includes 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. This is the same setup used in the FZ 25 as well. The suspension setting for the Fazer 250 is also expected to remain the same as there is only a minor increase in weight due to the fairing.
11:40 AM: Braking force on the Fazer250 is provided by a 282mm disc at front and a 220mm disc unit at the rear.It is expected that the motorcycle might get the ABS system as an option, if not as a standard offering.
11:27 AM: The Fazer 250 gets features such as LED headlamp with AHO(automatic headlamp On), split seats, grab rail and a chrome-finished heat shield on the exhaust. Apart from the fairing, most of the body panels are the same as found in the FZ 25.
11:15 AM: Yamaha Fazer250 is powered by a 249cc single cylinder engine that churns out 20 hp of power and 20Nm of torque. The motorcycle gets the same 5-speed transmission that does duty on FZ25
11:05AM: The Fazer 250 will share components such as suspension, brakes, wheels, and exhaust with the FZ25. Also, it will feature the same instrument console as in the FZ25.
11:00 AM: Yamaha India is all set to launch its second offering this year, Fazer 250. Stay tuned for the live updates from the event.
