Surprises are good! Especially when from a company like Big Dog Motorcycles. The American custom-made bike manufacturer has introduced their K9 Chopper motorcycle at a whopping price tag of Rs 59 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The custom motorcycle is powered by an 1,807 cc 45-degree overhead valve V-twin motor from S&S Superslider that is mated to a Jim's 6-speed transmission.

The suspension up front is a 41mm telescopic fork which exudes the custom-made, chopper feel in the motorcycle and the seat height is pretty low at 244 mm. Braking duties are courtesy a 4-piston differential bore single disc brake at the front and a 4-piston standard bore single disc brake at the rear, both sourced from Performance Machine. The front tyre is a MH90-21 56V while the rear is a massive 250/40VR18 (81V), which have been sourced from COBRA.

At the occasion, Samar JS Sodhi, Founder, Big Motorcycle Company, said, “For decades, I was planning to get this motorcycle here in India and now finally my dream has come true. I believe that this motorcycle will attract the right rider who is looking for a unique, ‘one of one’ custom chopper which will make its presence felt on the road, and guess what this is completely street legal in India. I am extremely delighted that this ‘one of one’ custom made motorcycle is now in India. Once you take a seat on the Big Dog Motorcycle, you will know what makes for ultimate comfort. The chopper’s beastly growl will make your ears stand on end.” Each motorcycle can be customised further according to the buyers' need which include exotic seats, sissy bars, drag pipes, wider tyres, drag pipes and stator as well as rotor kits.
Backed by Kansas Motor Works (KMW), the company was founded in 1994, and has sold over 30,000 custom motorcycles globally making it the largest custom-made motorcycle manufacturer in the world. The 'One-of-One' philosophy is based on the company's theory of building each motorcycle to the customers' taste. With the launch of Big Dog Motorcycles, India can now look forward to custom-made luxury motorcycles which will truly 'stand out of the crowd'.
