What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name, Ducati? Superbikes that would carve corners with utmost grace. So, what happens when the Italian bike maker plans to make a cruiser. The end result is the XDiavel power cruiser that not only looks devilish of sorts but has now been launched in India and can be yours for Rs 15.87 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the XDiavel and Rs 18.47 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the XDiavel S.
Powering the XDiavel is a 1,262 cc Testastretta DVT engine that generates a massive 156hp of max power and 129Nm of peak torque. When it comes to the traits of a cruiser, the engine delivers its peak torque at 5,000 rpm which, as Ducati aptly states it, is 'low speed excitement'. Mated to a six-speed transmission, power to the rear wheel is sent by a belt drive instead of a chain, which is a first for the company.
And what good is a power cruiser without the right amount of technology! The Ducati XDiavel comes with numerous convenience and safety features like cruise control, hands free, 60 ergonomic configurations, different riding modes suited for various road conditions, Ducati Traction Control and Cornering ABS and some more.
Needless to say that this demon lovechild of a cruiser and a superbike would see a good fan following and allure a larger following for the Italian bike maker, considering the standard Diavel and Diavel Carbon are already one of the largest-selling models for the company in India.
