Bajaj's new adventure motorcycle is likely to be based on the Dominar 400

Bajaj Auto has trademarked the name 'Adventurer', as per information available on the Controller General of Patents Design and Trade Marks website. This recent development hints at a possible new motorcycle - an adventure tourer based on the Dominar. During the launch of the Dominar 400, the brand made it known that it was the first of the many to come based on the same platform.

Dominar will serve as a brand like the Pulsar did, and will have many more motorcycles with the same moniker. Speculations suggest Bajaj Dominar Adventurer just maybe the next one in line.

Bajaj has established the Dominar 400 as a sports tourer and hasn't been much of an off-roader, hence an adventure tourer is likely the next addition to the line-up, also considering that adventure touring motorcycles are new to India but the trend is catching on very quickly.

In terms of an affordable adventure tourer, India only has the Royal Enfield Himalayan so far, which falls under the Rs 2 lakh mark and has proven to handle off road conditions well. The new Adventurer or Dominar Adventurer might just be a direct rival to the Himalayan.

If it is based on the Dominar 400, it would likely carry the same 373 cc engine which makes 34 bhp and 35 Nm of torque. Bajaj so far does not have an adventure motorcycle in its stable. It did introduce the 'Adventure Sport' versions of the Pulsar AS150 and AS200, but the two only had more of cosmetic upgrades and no such mechanical tweaks to make them adventure touring ready.

Adventure tourers are beginning to be well appreciated in the country as more and more motorcyclists now aspire to go for cross country rides. There isn't much information available on the Adventurer yet. Considering how quick the Dominar 400 was to gain popularity, an adventure touring version of it might gather just as much attention.

been holding myself back from buying the only available 'Affordable' Himalayan for long. Bajaj should bring out the adventure tourer without further delay as the only affordable option available right now- the Himalayan from RE just disappoints with no hint of any efforts to address the reliability issues from the manufacturers in the forseeable future. hope the good guys at Bajaj can sense the urgency of an alternative affordable and reliable adventure bike in the country from the s of the RE Himalayan despite the much publicised defects and issues. waiting with fingers crossed.
