Piaggio owned Aprilia, an Italian motorcycle company, will expand its model lineup by introducing two new models in the country by July-August this year, as reported by Autocar India. Both the models are already sold in international markets.
The new Aprilia Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro 900 are powered by the same 896 cc, V-twin engine that produces a maximum power of 95.2 hp at 8,750 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 90 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The duo models use trellis-type steel tubes placed on an aluminium side plates along with a dismountable rear sub-frame. The motorcycles will also get 41 mm Kayaba inverted forks at the front as well as an adjustable monoshock at the rear.
Other specifications of the models include twin 320mm discs at the front along with four-piston Brembo callipers and a single 240 mm disc brake at the rear that uses single-piston Brembo calliper. The new Shiver and Dorsoduro 900 will be equipped with a new 17-inch cast aluminium six-spoke wheels that are also light in weight.
The upcoming Aprilia models will receive ABS (Antilock Braking System) and switchable traction control as standard fitments. For improved riding experience, the upcoming models will feature three driving modes, namely; Sport, Touring and Rain. In addition to this, the company will offer the models with an infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity by which the rider can connect a smartphone to the system.
Aprilia is said to be importing the models from Italy that could make the motorcycles attract higher pricing. The Aprilia Shiver 900 is expected to be priced around Rs 13 lakh and the Dorsoduro 900 is likely to carry a price tag of Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom and will compete with the likes of the Ducati Monster 821 and the Hypermotard 939.
