The third round of JKTyre National Racing Championship being held in Coimbatore has been the talk in the city for the whole week, the nice weather and occasional rains have made the track both fun and challenging for the participants across all platforms. Day 1 of the race saw some big changes in the points table, especially in the Euro JK 2017 category. However, the talk has to be about the young racer Lalhruaizela from Aizawl, Mizoram who virtually booked his spot to the Road to MotoGP in Spain as the racer finished second in the Round three of the 20th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2017. The 15-year old racer tallied the maximum possible 10 points on Day 1 of two days racing in the RedBull Road to Rookie Cup making his final total to 48 points a full 12 points over his stalemate Lalnunsanga. RedBull Road to Rookie cup saw 12 racers all below the age of 17 showing their true potential and burning rubber to win. In this championship, budding racers from the age group 12-17 get a chance to race on the Suzuki Gixxer race spec bike and is held alongside JK Tyre Suzuki Gixxer cup. The specification of the bike for both the categories remains the same.
In the other category, Euro JK 2017 which is held in a partnership of Euro International a worldwide racing organization which has its branches in Italy and America saw the defending champion Anindith Reddy dominating the top of the table. Starting behind the likes of Vishnu Prasad, the racer from Hyderabad showed no mercy as he pushed his limits to gain 15 points. Taking full advantage of the reverse grid in Race 2 as he began on pole 2 and went on to win the race scoring 10 points. Even after being penalized by 10 seconds in both the races, first for overtaking during a yellow flag and next one for a false start didn’t hurt his chances of winning. Chennai’s Vishnu Prasad failed to finish in both the races and couldn’t score any championship points allowing Mumbai’s Nayan Chatterjee to creep up by finishing third in race 1.
In the Suzuki Gixxer Cup, Joseph Mathew from Chennai continued his winning run with a fifth straight victory. He is now on 50 championship points way above others.
