Auto Expo 2018 is currently going in full swing and Piaggio Group has recently unveiled the Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150 motorcycles at the biennial event. This is the first time that the brand has taken he wraps off 150cc motorcycles for the Indian two-wheeler market. The final production models of the new Aprilia RS 150 and Aprilia Tuono 150 might see some cost cutting measures in order to make them apt for the price sensitive Indian two-wheeler market. As the name suggests, the new Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150 source power from the same 150cc motor that is good for churning out 18 hp of power and 14 Nm of torque. Transmission will be a six-speed unit and the officials have told us that there will also be a quickshifter on the motorcycle that will be offered as optional. As one can see in the images, the new Aprilia RS 150 and Aprilia Tuono 150 showcased at Auto Expo 2018 get inverted forks at the front along with a monoshock at the rear. The two motorcycles have been assisted with disc brakes at both ends to offer an uncompromised stopping power. An Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) will be on offer as standard. The two motorcycles feature a digital analog instrument cluster that has an easy to read layout.
Aprilia's first 150cc offering for the Indian two-wheeler market, the SR 150 earned decent appreciation from the customers and its tempting price point almost instantly made it the talk of the town. In such a case, we believe that the manufacturer will launch the Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150 at competitive price points too and if that happens, the two motorcycles can prove to be game changers for the brand in India, in the mass segment. To see the two bikes in flesh, visit Piaggio booth at Hall no. 2 at Auto Expo 2018.
Expect the new Aprilia RS 150 and Aprilia Tuono 150 to enter production sometime next year. Yamaha has recently launched the new YZF-R15 V3.0 and in such a case, this is a good answer from Aprilia. For more updates on Auto Expo 2018, stay tuned with us!
