RICHARD GEDDESRegional Marketing Manager
ECU International
ECU's foremost objective is ensuring that its graduates reach their potential. Our courses are not just practical, but relevant to the real world. We have a reputation in the market for producing high quality graduates, who are job-ready and able to add valuable inputs to their workplace. And our graduates have exactly what it takes to hit the ground running. With the mining boom in WA, the opportunity is huge. Some of our students get hired even before they finish their courses, and their salaries are simply amazing.
At the moment, about 15 per cent of our students are international; about two years ago it was 10 per cent. So we're growing very fast. One of our strategic objectives is to make sure we diversify the source countries our students come from. Today, we have students from over 90 countries across the world - and that's something we're proud of. We want to offer our students a rich international environment. It's not just the numbers that interest us.
India is a key market for us. In terms of numbers it's second only to China; in terms of growth it's our number one market. ECU just opened a marketing office in Gurgaon in April - and that's an indication of how seriously we view the Indian market.
I believe that education plays a vital role in making cultures understand each other. In that sense we are continuing with the philosophy of Edith Cowan, Australia's first female Parliamentarian.

ECU offers great flexibility and freedom to mix and match elective units as per your interests and expectations. The best thing about my course was, undoubtedly, the specialised units that I studied. These units are very practical and take you into the real world straight from the classroom. The assignments are very practical and gave me a close feel of actual work conditions. They improved my understanding of how things work in real life office situations.
