La Trobe University continues to expand by forging new links with Indian industry
Professor John Dewar, newly appointed vice-chancellor and president of La Trobe University, Australia, is in India on his first official visit to forge strategic alliances and sign MoUs with three leading Indian companies and institutions (HCL, Mahindra Reva and BITS Pilani). The agreements focus on innovation, new product development and realisation, industry collaboration, the commercialisation of intellectual property and institutional links. Professor Dewar was accompanied by senior deputy vice-chancellor and vice-president, Professor John Rosenberg, and senior delegates from La Trobe University. The delegation is part of the Victoria Super Trade Mission, led by the Victorian Premier, Mr Ted Baillieu.
New partnerships between Indian and Victorian higher education sector
Premier Ted Baillieu witnessed the signing of MoUs between Victorian and Indian education institutions following the New Delhi meet that was attended by Indian and Victorian leaders. Mr Baillieu said, These collaborations show Victorias and Indias commitment to working together to nurture these partnerships in the education sector. The partnerships include an MoU between Deakin University and IIM Indore, an MoU between La Trobe University and HCL, an MoU between La Trobe University and BITS Pilani, an MoU between University of Melbourne and University of Calcutta, among others.
