A 10-day strike by workers of Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages near Bangalore ended on Tuesday after a wage settlement was agreed upon, the employees union of the bottling plant said.

Negotiations had continued for seven months on a charter of demands that included a four-year wage agreement, before the employees struck work on March 14.

The staff resumed work on Tuesday after a settlement was reached on paying R1.50 for every percentage point increase in the consumer price index, which would amount to roughly R3,000-3,500 above the basic wage increase, said Meenakshi Sundaram, president of the employees' union and state secretary of the Centre for Trade Unions. The wage settlement will be with effect from July 1, 2013, he added.

As many as 291 workers had struck work at the bottling plant at Bidadi.
