Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Syria crisis with British Prime Minister David Cameron early today, Putin's spokesman said.

Cameron and Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Saint Petersburg after discussing the talk of Syrian military strikes over dinner with other world leaders and watching a cultural show that ended around 2:00 AM (2200 GMT).

"The sides have once again exchanged views regarding the situation in Syria," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news agencies.

The Russian president Vladimir Putin and British prime minister David Cameron also "confirmed their intentions to continue working on developing cooperation on a wide variety of issues," Peskov said.

Cameron has been supportive of US plans for military action against the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad, but failed to win approval of the British parliament to authorise British participation.
