The High Table dinner starts with a traditional Arabian welcome and exclusive reception on the lower deck. Once on the helipad, guests will be treated to 360-degree panoramic views of Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah and the World Islands while waiting for a gastronomic seven-course degustation menu created by Burj Al Arabs executive chef, Maxime Luvara. While the actual menu has been kept a surprise, some clues can be gained from Luvaras offerings at Al Mahara, the signature restaurant at Burj Al Arab, which offers a unique under-the-sea setting. Luvara is famed for his classical French, Mediterranean and fusion cuisine knowledge gained at Michelin-starred restaurants across the world, including with chef Alain Ducasse in Le Louis XVthe three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Monacoand with chef Antoine Westermann in Le Burehiesel, another three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris. Additionally, he has worked in many other restaurants and kitchens at some of the most luxurious hotels in the world. His signature dishes include Alaskan king crab and foie gras ravioli, Atlantic wild turbot cooked with vine leaves and pure Arabica coffee Chantilly cream cake.
The cost of the meal may be high, but its for a good cause, part of the Eat and Feed initiative in support of the WFP. The Burj Al Arab dinner is expected to raise funds that will provide food to more than 1,20,000 children for a day. Dining at The Burj, as it is known, is pretty expensive even on a normal day. Forget diner, afternoon tea in the Skyview Bar currently costs $110 per person, while evening cocktails at the same venue carry a minimum spend condition of $70 per person. However, if you are so inclined, you can ask for their most expensive cocktail, the wonderfully-named Diamonds are Forever, which is made from LHeraud Grand Champagne Cognac 1906, Luxor 24k Gold Flake Champagne, Bitters and brown sugar. It is served in a Swarovski cocktail glass with diamonds in the stem and the glass is presented as a keepsake to take home! It costs a staggering $1,350 for a single cocktail.
