Chapters on the 60-year-old Telangana statehood movement may also be included. The new curriculum to be introduced from the next academic year will include chapters on the regions culture, history, festivals, arts and handicrafts besides featuring prominent persons who were involved in the struggle for Telangana. The government has created two committees to suggest the necessary changes. While Prof M Kodandaram, the chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) heads one committee, the other is lead by academic C Ramaiah.
The committees will study Telugu textbooks and suggest ways to include Telangana Telugu language. Prof Kodandaram said the previous governments that ruled the undivided state, neglected Telanganas culture and its rich history.
