Tea prices easier at Kochi auction

Tea prices at this weeks auction here were fairly steady to easier by Rs 3-5 per kg even as there was generally good demand.

A total of 10.93 lakh kg of dust was offered and the high-priced CTCs were barely steady to lower by Rs 3-5 owing to quality. The good medium ones were easier by Re 1 to Rs 2. Orthodox highgrown dusts were lower by around Rs 5 and medium steady to dearer. Export enquiry was for the medium and low-priced varieties.

The best CTC quoted between Rs 58 and Rs 65 and the high-grown BOP (broken orange pekoe) dust was between Rs 70 and Rs 100.

There was generally good demand for the leaf categories with an offer of 4.48 lakh kg. Medium orthodox grades were firm to dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2. Export orders from Iraqi and Tunisia markets saw good enquiries for medium orthodox leaves.
