With the market moving towards greater use of technology, small cars are now getting features that were only seen on luxury cars earlier, Tiwari said. The new VistaVXTech has been loaded with features that were earlier available only on the D90. It has also made some upgrades.
All the features on the D90 are now available in the new VistaVXTech, barring the powerful 90 PS power engine that makes the Vista VXTech's price lower by almost a lakh while delivering higher fuel efficiency. Instead, the VistaVXTech gets a new 75 PS BSIV Quadrajet engine. The new car is targeted at those wanting latest technology, such as a GPS navigation system, steering wheel-mounted controls and Blue 5 technology, Tiwari said.
The D90 had a fuel efficiency of 21.1 kmpl and was in the Rs 6 lakh-Rs 6.83 lakh range while the Vista Tech has a fuel efficiency of 22.3 kmpl and is priced at Rs 4.94 lakh-Rs 5.99 lakh. The new car is positioned in the highly competitive A2 segment and it has to fight Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, Ford Figo, Toyota Liva and Nissan Micra, all in the Rs 4.5 lakh-Rs 7.5 lakh range. Tata Motors has a 5% share in this segment.
The company is hoping to attract customers with the GPS-enabled touchscreen driver information systems, entertainment systems, ABS, power-assisted windows, new dual-path suspension and some exterior changes.
