The company had sold 72,712 vehicles in the same month last year.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales declined to 45,996 units in March, down from 69,160 units a year earlier.
Tata Motors sold 9,761 units of Nano, Indica and Indigo cars and 2,879 units of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture vehicles, the company said in a statement.
In the commercial vehicles segment, domestic sales declined by 41.28 per cent to 33,356 units from 56,813 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
For the fiscal ended March 31, 2014, the company posted a sales of 566,695 units, down from 8,10,086 units in the 2012-13 fiscal.
