Road projects worth almost R2,000 crore are expected to be inaugurated by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in her constituency Rae Bareli on February 24. All the four projects will link her constituencies with the neighbouring districts in Uttar Pradesh and thereon lead to smooth connectivity with the corridors that link the state to different parts of the country.

While the 146.5-km Rae Bareli-Tanda highway would be built at a cost of R636 crore, the 133-km Rae Bareli-Banda highway would be built at a cost of R424.29 crore and would connect the VIP district to Bundelkhand. While these two highways are to be built on EPC, the third project, Rae Bareli-Jaunpur, which will cover 166.4 km, will be built on BOT/annuity and would cost R569.36 crores. The fourth project is the 18-km Rae Bareli ring road, which is to be built at a cost of R302 crore.

An NHAI official said the foundation-laying ceremony of all the four projects was expected on February 24 and work on them would be completed within 30 months.
