The most interesting part of this launch is the diesel engine-based Honda City, which is expected to be a runaway success. The bookings have already started pouring in for the new Honda City sedan at various dealerships. This might also be one of the reasons that the company is launching it before the Auto Expo (to be held in Greater Noida), because they seem to be pretty confident of the success which this sedan is going to bestow upon them.
The diesel engine of the fourth generation Honda City is the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC mill, which powers their Amaze sedan. This diesel mill has a displacement of 1498cc along with a top power of 98bhp and 200Nm of maximum torque. The engine is skillfully coupled with a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. On the other hand, the petrol version will feature the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC mill that churns out 117bhp of maximum power output and has been very dependable. The petrol engine based sedan will feature a manual as well as an automatic gearbox for the buyers to choose from.
There have been quite a few changes to the exteriors and interiors of this next generation sedan. The outsides are captivating with a smooth and lustrous body line with an expressive chrome-treated radiator grille. The headlight cluster looks radiant, while the bumper gets a wide airdam along with a pair of round-shaped fog lamps. The rear end gets a newly designed taillight cluster as well as some chrome garnish, while the boot-lid is now more crisp and edgy. The insides have been refurbished and are now looking quite classy. The company has added a few swish gadgets in it including a touch screen infotainment system, a reverse camera, push start/stop button with a keyless entry, and automatic climate control, which will surely add some brownie points to it. The price of this sedan is said to be in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), which seems quite competitive if compared to the other sedan models in this segment.
On the other hand, the next generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be launched on the8th of January, 2014. Apparently, the company has pre-poned the launch, owing to the ever increasing demand for the vehicle. The price tag of this luxury vehicle is being slated to be in the range of Rs. 1.4 crore to 1.8 crore (ex-showroom). The company is expected to introduce the S500 and also the S350 CDI variants in this new generation to carry its magnificent heirloom forward.
The S500 is said to be fitted with a powerful 4.7-litre twin turbo petrol mill, which is equipped with eight cylinders. This massive engine can generate a whopping 449bhp along with a pounding toque of 700Nm, which is quite impressive. The most thrilling part of this engine is that it can propel this luxury saloon from 0-100 Kmph in just about 5.7 seconds, which is quite fascinating. The company has added this luxurious paradise with a chauffeur package, well cushioned massager seats covered with perforated leather, high resolution TFT screens measuring 31.2 cms with the advanced COMAND system and much more. This S500 will be brought into the country through the CBU route and the deliveries of this saloon are expected to commence from early February itself. The surprise element of this launch is that there is a rumor going on about a special edition of this saloon being introduced as well. This will be made in limited numbers and is expected to come with some special comfort and safety features to entice the buyers. Besides, this S350 CDI variant will apparently come with a 3.0-litre engine, which can generate a maximum of 258bhp. This variant will be launched a little later, as it is supposedly going to be brought in en-route CKD and will be locally assembled at the company manufacturing unit.
